Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the Ultimate Pet Resort a Kennel?
The Ultimate Pet Resort may be exclusively for dogs and cats, but we are not a kennel.  In fact, we have tried to completely expunge the nasty K-Word from our vocabulary. Some of our services are better than what you might have at the Hyatt.  Even premier "human" hotels don't walk you five times a day and have maid service at least four times a day!.

2. How many locations does the Ultimate Pet Resort have?
Our first location is located in Fayetteville next to Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force bases. In 2010, you can expect additional locations in Los Angeles, Myrtle Beach, and other places.

3. How much does it cost to board my dog?
The cost to board your dog(s) depends on room size, additional services and the length of stay. Please see our rates page for more information.

4. How far in advance should I make my pet's reservation?
In general, we recommend that all reservations be made 2 weeks in advance. For holidays, we recommend 8 weeks in advance to ensure space availability.

5. How late are you open?
During holidays we are open and staffed 24x7. At other times our normal hours of operation are 8 am – 7 pm. For emergencies, deployments, etc, appointments can be made 24x7.

6. What vaccinations does my pet need?
All dogs must be current on the rabies, Bordetella, and DHLPP vaccinations. Feline guests need to be current on the rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. You must either bring in your shot records when dropping off your pet or you can have your Vet fax them to us.

7. Can you give my pet their medication while they are staying with you?
As part of our basic care, almost all medication can be administered by our trained staff.

8. Can my cat and dog stay together in the same suite?
We do not offer this service because cats can easily escape from the doggie suites since the dogs have a clear view above their room. And you can imagine the chaos one Kat can cause in a room full of doggies!

9. Can I stay with my doggie in his luxury suite?
You can certainly visit in their suite, and even set it up for them when you arrive. However, we aren't licensed for human guests, so unfortunately, no, our Resort is exclusively for dogs and cats.

10. Do we have to bring our own bed?
We can provide bedding for all our guests, unless we find they are destructive, in in which case they will have a warm tile floor. However, if you would like to bring your own bed, you are not only welcome to, we highly encourage it, because it gives them a bond with their home environment. If your pet's bedding gets dirty, we will wash it for them, every day if needed. However, we caution you that on busy holidays or beach weekends, we may not have time to return it clean when you pick up your pet.

11. Can I bring my own dog food?
You are encouraged to bring your pet's own food. It will be stored on a shelf above their suite. We encourage this because a change of diet coupled with the stress of being left by their owners, can sometimes bring on stomach upset.  However, as a full service hotel and pet resort, we can feed your pet Pedigree or Euknauba at a small extra charge. We have extensive experience with feeding a wide variety of guests and we believe that your pet should remain on the exact same type of food he eats at home. The little guy is already experiencing tension and worry because you are leaving him, it is no time to change his diet.

12. Will provide special preparation of my dog's meals?
Don't worry about special preparation.  If you want we will mix wet and dry, warm food, add water, even serve with a wine glass and napkin, just give us the word and make sure it is outlined on your check-in form under "Special Instructions."

13. Can I bring my dog’s favorite toys?
You may ABSOLUTELY bring your dog’s favorite toys although it will remain in their room, and not be used in the playground with other guests. Chew bones, toys, squeaky toys, balls, stuffed animals, and all toys are heartily welcomed by our staff to help build a continuity with our guests normal home environment.

14. Can I bring my dog’s favorite treats?
You may ABSOLUTELY bring your dog’s favorite treats, and if you forget, don't worry, be happy, we have a wide range of treats we serve daily.

15. How many times a day does my dog get walked? Does my dog get to play with other dogs?
We walk them outside at least 4 times per day, and put them in our playgrounds at least once a day.  If you pet is well adjusted to social activities with other dogs they can romp around one of the playgrounds for several hours a day.

16. How do you decide which dogs can engage in playgroups?
Playgroups are determined by your dog’s individual personality and requirements. The usual factors are age, size, weight, temperament and play-style, which we assess through daily observatio0n and your pet’s profile.

17. What if my dog doesn’t like hanging out and playing with other dogs?
Most of our guests do play with others, however if your dog shows unfriendly behavior, they will not be able to participate in playgroups. To accommodate these guests, we offer individual play in our smaller playground.

18. Can I board my dog even if he has poor disposition?
Various factors influence your dog’s behavior. We recommend that you bring your dog in for a short visit to our facility. We always monitor your dog throughout their stay and make adjustments as needed. We have only had to refuse a few dogs in all of our years for destructive or violent behavior.  However, if your dog causes damage to his room, you will be responsible for the repair costs which can run from $10 to $100, although we must say it is extremely rare.

19. Do you accept all breeds?
Unfortunately no. While every dog, regardless of breed, is really a personality driven by their home environment, we find that two breeds in particular are not adjusted well to the Ultimate Pet Resort.  Although we have and do make acceptations after meeting the individual dog, as a preliminary rule we do not accept Chows or Pit Bulls. These two particular breeds are just not suited for a playful fun environment or interaction with new people and other breeds. Regretfully, we must request you use your vet or a more structured and confined boarding facility.

20. When do I have to pick up my pet?
Check-outs after 1pm are charged for an extra day. Sunday, just like the Hyatt Hotel, late check-outs are free.  FREE Extended check-out time on Sunday is before 3pm. You can extend your check-out time on Sunday until 8pm for only $10 extra
.

21. Is there anything else I should know about your kennel?
Yes, NEVER NEVER use the horrible K-WORD!
